Shabby Chic Vibes with Emily!
Hi friends! Emily Midgett here with you on the Pinkfresh Studio Blog today, and I am excited to be sharing some inspiration using some of the beautiful new products from the new Happiness Release. I adore pairing stripes with florals, and so the two new striped press plates were really exciting additions to the Pinkfresh Studio product line. Stripes plus flowers gives me a “shabby chic” vibe, so I selected some warm pinks and the ever-versatile Warm Buff ink to create this warm card. Let’s get started with the details!
To start, I used Warm Buff ink with the Plaid Press Plate and some warm white letterpress cardstock. The combination of the warm taupe ink with the creamy letterpress paper definitely gives shabby chic vibes! This plate is super versatile; one turn of your cardstock and you can easily create a wonderful plaid pattern. I can’t wait to play with it for Christmas projects!
For the focal point, I used the beautiful new Delighted For You press plate as a hot foil plate with Aura hot foil. The new press plates work so wonderfully with hot foil in addition to the letter press technique… such a versatile product! The delicate lines came through so beautifully with the Aura foil, while also adding a subtle rainbow iridescent shine. I also was able to create a negative image with the leftover foil piece by using it with the Pinkfresh Studio Solid Hot Foil Plate. I used the coordinating stencils with the outline image using Peony, Begonia, and Mulberry Blush inks for the blooms, then combined Peony and Warm Buff inks for the foliage to create some warm, almost monochromatic foliage. I die cut both of the images with the coordinating die.
To create the bouquet, I used some sharp scissors to trim the negative hot foiled die cut image so that I could tuck different pieces behind the stenciled bouquet and fill it out, creating a large focal point. I arranged all of the pieces on the striped card front and adhered them with foam adhesive. For the greeting, I combined one of the sentiments from the Joyful Day press plate set with Mulberry Blush ink, then die cut it with its coordinating die. I popped it up with some more foam adhesive, adhering it in the midst of the floral bouquet. The extra layer of foam adhesive helps it pop even more from the colorful floral background. Finally, I added a few Ballet Slipper gems and tucked a twine bow next to the sentiment, helping to draw the eye to the greeting.
Well, that’s all for my project today! I love creating unique floral arrangements with the reverse images and unexpected color combinations, and this warm pink and taupe combo created such a lovely shabby chic vibe. I hope you enjoyed! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
