Hi Pinkfresh friends!

I'm back on the blog with some Geometric card designs made with the new Modern Rug stencil set. Pinkfresh Studio July Challenge is all about geometrics so I thought I could create some cards making the most out of this gorgeous new stencil set. I always try out several color combos, so I end up with a bunch of panels perfect for mass producing cards:

I wanted to create some diecut with geometric shapes but I decided to add some extra texture to the stenciled background by adding some Opal Hot foil using the Modern Design Block Hot Foil. Next up I created several arches and circles with the Nested Arches dies and the Nested Circles dies.

I started out inking my A2 panel with the Modern rug stencil set with Sparkling Rose, Sky Blue, Summer Shower, Citron and Bay Leaf. After trying several tools to hold my stencils, I've found I have better results with my Misty and and a Grip mat. the paper doesn't shift at all and I can be sure I'll have a perfect alignment placing each layer of the stencil in upper right corner of my misti. This method also makes all the inking process very fast and what's more important, you can create several backgrounds in no time at all.

Once the coloring was done, I grabbed the smallest arches from the Nested Arches dies, the smallest circle from the Nested Circles dies and the circles dies from the Rosettes dies. Before adhering all these pieces to my panel, I dry embossed the Twist Pattern Press Plaid on an A2 white cardstock and then adhered my circles and arches on top, operlapping some of them for some dimension. Too add some fun extra texture, I colored some flowers from the Stylized Floral set and colored the with the same colors of the arched diecuts.  For the sentiment, I white heat embossed the Wishing you the Happiest day from the Fluttering Butterflies Stamp set.

For my next project, I repeated the same process and almost the same pattern using a different color combo: Candy Violet and Raspberry Bliss, Sunkissed, Ballet Slipper and Stargazer. Once I die cut all the pieces, I foam mounted them onto a panel which I had previously dry embossed with the Stippled Plaid Press Plate.

For the sentiment, I gold heat emboosed one of the sentiments from the Happy vibes stamp set and also added some small flowers from the Sweet Blossom dies.

This card shows another color combo I wanted to use with this set of stencils: Ballet Slipper, Cherry Blossom, Fresh Pear, Grassy Knoll with Olive and Sunshine.

I created four panels with this color combo . My idea was to cut them out to create a fun pattern but in the end I trimmed the biggest rectangle in the center so I could use the "L" shape as a frame to add some interest to my design. To cut out these pieces I used a trimmer so I was able to choose whatever part of the Modern rug design I wanted.  I ended up with several "L" shapped diecuts and I decied to use them as half frames giving my card a fun new look.

To embellish my card, I white heat embossed some flowers using the Vines and roses stamp set and colored them with the coordinating stencils using : Splarking rose, Sunkissed, Raspberry Bliss, Mango Sorbet for the flowers and Grassy Knoll, Olive and Bay leaf for the leaves.

I used the new Plaid Press Plate to create a panel with Opal Glimmer foil as the backdrop for my card. Once I cut out these flowers with the coordinating dies  I foam mounted them onto a circle I cut out with the smallest die from the Essentials Stitched Scallop Circle dies. I tucked some white heat embossed vellum flowers from the Butterfly Garden stamp and placed my sentiment  from the Joyful Day Stamp set

For my last project I created several A2 panels using: Ballet Slippers, Sparkling Rose, Sunkissed, Citron, Sky Blue and Summer Shower. I also added some opal glimmer hot foil on these panels using the Modern Designs Block Hot Foil as well as on an A2 note card that I used as the front panel for this card

. As in my previous project, I trimmed certain parts of the panels to create "L" shapped die cuts, stacked two of those and placed them from the top and bottom edges towards the center of the card. I didn't want them to exactly meet in the middle so I slightly offset them and adhered a square I had cut out using the Stitched Scallop rectangles.

Lastly, I white heat embossed my sentiment sentiment from the Vines and Roses Stamp set on black cardstock. To add some interest to the design, I also added some die cut flowers from the Stylized Flowers and the Sweet Blossoms set.

I hope these projects inspire you use your stencils in a different way and remember Pinkfresh Studio July challenge theme is Geometrics so maybe you might try some of these ideas.

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy crafting!

I am on this geometric kick lately, and just can’t get enough of it. Theses cards speak to me. Especially, the first one and I think I have that color combo too! Brilliant use of the stencil in all your cards!
