Hot Foiling on Watercolor Paper | TaeEun Yoo
Hi, Pinkfresh friends! Hope your week is off to a great start! It’s TaeEun here today sharing a couple of cards showcasing some hot foil plates from the latest release.
I did hot foiling on Canson XL watercolor paper (140lb) panel for today's cards and it worked fabulously!
The first card is featuring Bougainvillea Print and Best Wishes hot foil plates.
To start I first watercolored a watercolor paper panel in Sunshine, Bubble Gum and Key Lime Liquid Watercolors in light wash. Btw the Liquid watercolors are on sale while stocks last. Some of them are already gone, so be sure to check them out, if the liquid watercolors have been on your wish list!
I let the panel dry and hot foiled the Bougainvillea Print on it in gold. I then watercolored the image using the Liquid watercolors in Sunshine, Clementine, Bubble Gum and Key Lime. I colored some of the bracts of the Bougainvillea in orange and some of them in pink.
After the watercolored panel was dry I cut a square (rhombus) from the center of it using Diagonal Stitched Squares die. I then ink blended the edge of the front panel and the square piece: top of them in Sunshine, Apricot and the bottom area in Grassy Knoll. I made the square panel slightly darker. I then mounted the front panel flat on a white cardbase and foam mounted the square panel on the center.
Next I cut a few Curvy Leaves from white cardstock and ink blended some of them in Grassy Knoll. The Best Wishes sentiment was hot foiled in gold on some black glossy paper, cut with the coordinating die and added to the card using black foam adhesives along with the white and green die cut leaves. I finished off the card with some yellow Jewels.
The second card is showing the Joyful Peonies hot foil plate.
I hot foiled the Joyful Peonies image on watercolor paper panel in gold and watercolored it using the Pinkfresh Studio Liquid Watercolors in Bubble Gum, Clementine, Aquamarine, a bit of Key Lime for some of the leaves and Sunshine for the stamen. After the coloring was complete I cut it using the coordinating die and set it aside.
For the background I chose a paper panel from the Celebrate 6x6 paper pack, cut it as shown in the picture and added a thin strip of gold cardstock to the diagonal cut edge. I splattered a bit of Bubble Gum watercolor on a white cardbase and foam mounted the patterned paper panel on it. Then the Joyful Peonies image was adhered using some foam tape on the card.
The sentiment from My Favorite Things to Say 2 stamp set was gold heat embossed on a piece of vellum. I cut it in a banner and added it to the card. To finish off I adhered three pink enamel dots from Some Days collection.
That's it from me today! Hope my cards gave you some inspiration for your next craft session with watercoloring on hot foiled image!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Wishing you all a great week!

Oh my I was really excited to see foiling done on watercolor paper! I thought the Canson XL would be a wc paper that could work due to its subtle texture and was happy to see TaeEun’s results came out so gorgeous and I always LOVE her watercoloring, she’s amazing!
