Hot Foiled Best Wishes | Jenny Colacicco
Hello there crafty friends! It's Jenny here. How have you been enjoying all the hot foiling goodness this past week? Wasn't the latest release simply stunning? I'm a giant hot foiling fan and even after foiling for a couple of years now, I'm still always in awe at how beautiful the results are. As you may know, I love experimenting with colored cardstocks, and hot foiling is the perfect companion. The foil is opaque, and shows up wonderfully against darker cardstock. My card today features a deep teal cardstock, just perfect for hot foiling.
To create my card, I first did my foiling. It takes a little time to get the machine warmed up (I use a Spellbinders Glimmer machine) so I like to do any foiling all in one go. I used the Bougainvillea Print Hot Foil Plate and Matte Gold glimmer hot foil onto a panel of teal cardstock. The gold looks simply stunning with the teal (or almost anything).
I also foiled (in the same Matte Gold) the new Best Wishes Hot Foil Plate onto 110lb white cardstock. The Best Wishes plate has a coordinating die which is awesome - I love die cut sentiments, saves me a lot of time (and error) fussy cutting! I die cut out the sentiment, and used the same coordinating die to cut two more layers of white cardstock, then adhered them all together to create almost a chip board sentiment.
I adhered the sentiment to the center of the Bougainvillea panel with foam squares trimmed to size. To add interest, I wanted to surround the sentiment with die cuts, and the Curvy Leaves die set is perfect for this. I die cut each of the leaves from white cardstock and then to add some color, ink blended a few coordinating shades of ink onto them with mini ink daubers. The colors I used were Mermaid Cove, Candy Violet and Soft Lilac, making sure to leave a little white peeping through, by fading out with the dauber.
I arranged the curvy leaves around the sentiment with a few trimmed foam squares and dots of glue, tucking the leaves under the sentiment in some places and overlapping it in others. I adhered the entire panel to a white note card, leaving a small white border to tie in with the sentiment. And of course, I couldn't resist adding a few Essentials: Jewels to finish!
I think this may be my favorite creation from this latest release - those purples and teals really pop against the hot foiled gold. If you've not yet tried hot foiling, you're really missing out, take the plunge and give it a try. You'll be hooked!
Enjoy your day!
