Fluttering by with Butterflies | Erica A-B
Hi Pinkfresh fans!
It’s Erica, with my first blog post as part of the Pinkfresh Studio design team! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited and thrilled I am to be here. It’s such a dream come true as I absolutely love Pinkfresh Studio! *squeal*
Ok, time for game-face and getting to the point of this blog post: the card! I used this month’s challenge graphic as inspiration, and if you want to take part in the challenge, you can find that post and where you link up your card HERE.
First off, I grabbed the ink colours from the graphic: Ocean Breeze, Passion Fruit, Coral Reef, Sweet Mustard and Tidal Pond. Next up was the Butterflies stamp, layering stencils and coordinating diecuts. A couple of slimline stencils made the cut too before it was time to play.
My background was made by ink blending Sweet Mustard, Ocean Breeze and Tidal Pond over the Inverted Diamond stencil with blender brushes. I added to the pattern by using very slim PostIt tape, this also helped keen the stencil in place as I’m out of Pixie Spray *horrified gasp*
Next up it was time to create some butterflies and I made quite a few. A girl’s gotta have options, right? I ended up using two of the big butterflies, and they are made with the layering stencils, with only one ink colour each! Coral Reef and Sweet Mustard. The Butterflies outline stamp was heatembossed in Gold Rich embossing powder, and it works so well with the ink colours.
A card doesn’t always need a sentiment on the front, but I usually do add one. The one I picked for this card was from the Butterflies set, and it was simply stamped in the middle of the card, with Black Ink.
So that’s the card done. For such a simple design, it took me hours to make it because I kept making more and more butterflies and backgrounds. Eh, it happens right? Once you are on a roll, it seems crazy to stop, doesn’t it?
I really hope you enjoyed this post and the card, I will be back later in the month with another post, and of course there is the new release coming up too! You are not going to want to miss it!
Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
