Adding more interest with Border stencils | Raquel Arribas
Happy Friday Pinkfresh friends!
I'm back again on the blog with another take on the recently released Border Stencils. Yes, I do love stencils and I'm always trying to find ways to bring some fresh look to my designs. For today's projects, I wanted to create colorful dimensional designs using dies along with these stencils.
I started these projects inking up several 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inch panels . I used two stencil grids, the one with the vertical lines and the one with the horizontal lines. When placing my first stencil I made sure I left some space on the left hand side so I could use the inked pattern in different areas of my A2 cards. The colors I used for the next projects are: Sparkling Rose, Peony, Apricot, Sweet Mustard, Ocean Breeze, Turquoise and Slumber.
Once I ended all the inking I grabbed some dies to cut out these panels. I used the Essentials Stitched Scalloped Square dies, the Nested Arches dies, the Notched Corner Frames dies and the Braided Tag die.
For this card, I cut out my panel with the Stiched Scalloped Square dies. My card base measures 4 1/4 by 4 1/4 so I decided to use both the outer and the inner Scallped Square edges. Instead of following the pattern of the Border Stencil, I turned the Squares 90 degrees and placed the as shown in the picture for a fun and unexpected look. I foam mounted these border die cuts and glued the inner piece in the center. I colored the beautiful Wildflower Bouquet with the same colors I used in my Border stencils and once I cut them out with the coordinating dies I also foam mounted them onto a scalloped circle I die cut with the Stiched Scallop circle dies.
The sentiment I used is from the Beautiful Branch Stamp set.
For my next project I die cut another inked panel with the Nested arches dies.
I adhered the Dotted Chevron Coverplate die onto my cardbase and foam mounted my arch on top. Before gluing the rest of the panel into the arch I wanted to add some extra texture to this arch so I cut out part of a white Secret Garden die cut onto this piece. To embellish this arch window, I went ahead and created some flowers using both the Stylized Floral set and the Sweet Blossoms set. I used the sentiment from the same Wildflower Bouquet Stamp set and stamped it with Storm ink.
This is another card I made using the same technique. This time I used the Notched Corner Frames dies to cut out my inked panel. I also foam mounted one of the frames and added some dimension with the Simply Diamonds
die and left the rest of the panel flat. To embellish this card, I white heat embossed these gorgeous branches from the Fluttering Butterflies set and colored them with the coordinating stencil using the same colors I had used for the background.
For my last project I changed my color palette. For this card I used: Persimmon, Apricot, Sweet Mustard, Citron, Grassy Knoll and Olive. I cut out this panel with the Braided tag die set and decided to foam mount another oval die onto this one. I used the smallest of the Braided Oval dies. Before adhering it onto the Braided Tag, I ink blended it using the same colors of my background. Finally, I gold heat embossed this beautiful image from the Heart of Gold stamp set. I colored it with the coordinating stencils using Sunshine, Lemon Whip, Grassy Knoll, Olive, Cherry Blossom, Peony and Begonia.
To add some extra texture, I clear heat embossed the Breezy Blossoms Cling stamp and adhered to my card base. Lastly I foam mounted my oval piece on top and added my sentiment.
I hope you are inspired with these projects and have fun using your stencils.
Thank you so much for stopping by and happy crafting!
Raquel
