Stitched it! Two layouts with two new collections | Else Huinink
Hi Pinkfresh Studio friends, I'm excited to share my first blogpost with two layouts I've created with the fun new collections: My Favorite Story & Super Cool!
On both layouts I used my sewing machine to stitch the papers to my background. I love the extra texture the stitching gives.
Sunny day at the zoo - My Favorite Story
For this layout I was inspired by the paper 'best chapter'. I cut the different parts of the paper, so I was left with 4 different kinds of big triangles. My initial idea for the layout didn't work out, so I ended up cutting the different pieces smaller and made a sunburst pattern with them. I also used a piece of the paper 'bloom & grow' to tie in the flowers I knew I was going to use.
I stitched the triangles to the paper and ruffled up the edges with my fingers for some extra texture. I like how the other side of the paper is slightly showing here and there.
When the background is finished, I start to work on my picture. I (almost) always back my picture with vellum, I like how the other colors behind it are a little muted. I'm a sucker for tags and labels, so I used those to back my picture. On the triangle with the grid pattern I layered different kinds of florals. I also picked the black and white frame from the chipboard stickers for a pop of black.
Finally I used the puffy alpha stickers and a part of a puffy phrase stickers to spell out my title and used. I love how the yellow from the title pops up in different places on the layout.
Little explorer - Super Cool
This collection is all about cool teens, fun icons & phrases and bold colors. I don't have a teen yet, but an 1.5 year old explorer. Honestly, I was surprised how well this collection suited my picture!
I really liked the ombre green stripes from the paper 'Current Mood'. I cut the different shades of green with my scissors for an uneven and slightly messy look. I stitched these strips to my white background. For fun I used a zig zag stitch on one of the strips, while the rest is a simple straight stitch.
For the layers behind my picture, I used a blue pocket tag, cardstock ephemera and a few fun puffy stickers. I always try to bring certain colors back in different spots. There are a few light pink labels behind the picture, as well as some bright yellow and light blue from the tag and title. I also stapled an acetate speech bubble to the top of the picture. To fill up the top of my layout I used a few stickers from the cardstock stickers and made a cluster.
To finish off this layout I spelled out the title with the two different alphas in this collection. I especially love the tiny white puffy alphas, they are so versatile!
Thank you for being here and I hope I could inspire you to document your precious memories! Be sure to check out these new collections- I love the quality of the papers and all those different kinds of fun ephemera you can choose from!
