Circles and Wreaths - Layout Inspiration | Kathleen Graumüller
Hey everyone, it's Kathleen here with you again and today I'm actually sharing my first Christmas-themed layout of this season! Yep.. only 78 days til Christmas, so I thought it's about time, haha! But first I want to show you my interpretation of the October challenge.
This time it's all about beautiful fall colors and circles! You can find all the information about how to enter and what to win on the challenge page here.
For my page I mixed the Office Hours collection with a few other bits and pieces. The idea for this layout came when I had a look through my leftover Office Hours embellishments to find circles. The "caffeine fix" Ephemera piece immediately caught my eye and I knew that that was going to be the theme.
I grabbed a few other round pieces, like the dark blue "work from home" Cardstock Sticker, some epoxy stickers from the Mixed Embellishments Pack and of course enamel dots.
I also made use of some paper scraps I had left that fit the color scheme and die cut circles in different sizes from those. To make my photo stand out more, I also cut a eucalyptus wreath from the Eucalyptus Fantasy washi, using the coordinating die set.
For the title I used a mix of the gorgeous coral puffy alpha stickers from Office Hours and some small dark blue ones I had left from Indigo Hills 2. And at the last minute I also decided to use the B-side of the Dreams paper for my background instead of white. And I'm glad I did! I really like the very soft light gray pattern!
And now, as promised, my first Christmas-themed layout! Of course I used the new Home for the Holidays collection for this one! As well as a new exclusive cut file from Pinkfresh Studio*!
*There are lots winter- and Christmas-themed ones to come, perfect to use with the new collection! If they are not up yet, they will be very soon! :)
I die cut the mistletoe wreath from white cardstock and then backed the leaves with the Merry and Bright paper and the berries with the Home for the Holidays paper. I've probably said this last year (and the year before) but I'm usually not the biggest fan of bright red and green together. However, for a design like this, I think it really fits.
Besides, I decided to bring in a more non-traditional Christmas color with the light pink/slamon background (which is actually the Busy paper from Office Hours!) and some dark blue elements. Mixed together with these colors, I have to admit that really like the green and red.
To give the wreath some dimension, I used 3D foam adhesive behind it. I also tucked some Ephemera pieces and Cardstock Stickers in and around the wreath. I just love the little bird and deer peeking out from the leaves!
For the title I used a mix of alphabet stickers: the white ones are from Home for the Holidays, the coral ones from Indigo Hills 2 and the dark blue were from The Mix No. 2 from quite a while ago ;)
I repeated the dark blue by adding the "deck the halls" and "home for the holidays" pieces to the wreath.
Apart from that I only added some enamel dots around the page and splattered some white paint to create the illusion of snow falling.
I would love to know which layout is your favorite! And also: what is your favorite Christmas color combination?
Thanks a lot for stopping by! Xo, Kathleen
