Home for the Holidays with Cutfiles | Kathleen Graumüller
Hey everyone, it's Kathleen back with you again and today I have two layouts to share with the Home for the Holidays collection for you!
For both I used the cute new Christmas- and winter-themed exclusive cutfiles* by Pinkfresh Studio! I don't know what it is about Christmas scrapbooking, but I used a lot of cutfiles for my projects last year, too! You can check them out HERE and HERE.
*You can find all of the exclusive Pinkfresh Studio cutfiles HERE.
The Mistletoe Kisses cutfile is one of my favorites (especially because it's quite easy to back ;) ), so I knew I had to use it. The colors and papers I would need for the leaves and berries were easy to narrow down: I needed green and red. I did decide to mix in a little bit of pink/coral, though.
For the bow I tried different papers and liked the B-side of the Holiday Gifts paper a lot, but finally I decided on the dark blue of the Happy Holidays paper.
I like the contrast of the dark blue against the white and the other colors! When I was done backing the cutfile, I popped it up on some foam tape for a little bit of dimension.
Next, I backed my photo with a bit of tissue paper to give it a subtle border. I adhered it in place, letting some of the leaves overlap the photo. I like to do that whenever I can, as long as I don't cover up anything important.
To embellish the mistletoe a little more, I used a lot of red, pink and white enamel dots, some of the stickers from the mixed embellishments and also one cut up cardstock sticker.
For my title I actually used the white alpha stickers from Just a Little Lovely, simply because I couldn't find the ones that belonged to this collection, haha. But I think they work well on this page.
Some gold splatters for the final touch and that's it!
For my next layout I used the Hanging Ornament cutfile. I cut it multiple times in different sizes and also made sure to mirror the image a few times so it wouldn't look exactly the same every time.
Backing these pieces did take a little more time, but it's also a great way to use up small paper scraps! On this page I was going for a more non-traditional color scheme with mostly dark blue, mustard yellow, coral and white, and just a teeny tiny bit of red and green.
I actually mixed in some scraps I had left from the Office Hours collection that fit the color scheme perfectly!
After I was happy with the arrangement of the ornaments on my page, I adhered them down. For some of them I used foam tape to add a little bit of dimension.
I kept the embellishing relatively simple, with just a few enamel dots, and some snowflake stickers and ephemera pieces. The layout is quite busy with all of the colors and patterns, and I wanted to make sure my photo would still stand out.
That's also why I used the white alpha stickers (this time I found them, ha!). Because the title is quite long, colored alpha stickers would have been too much.
And just as the title suggests, I added some glitter in the form of splatters and also partly on the ornaments.
That's it from me today. I hope you enjoyed these projects and they spark your creativity! I would love to hear what color scheme you are loving for your Christmas projects this year!
