Holiday Happenings | Ashley Horton
Hi there everyone! We are only 9 days away from Christmas and there is so much happening during this time of the year! I always have a lot of photos to document during the Christmas season and the Home for the Holidays collection worked great for the two layouts I'm sharing today. One is a Christmas themed layout and the other is for a snow day. I love that the collection worked for the two different themes of my layouts.
On my first layout, I used the Hanging Ornament Cut File with the Home for the Holidays collection. I decided to enlarge the ornament and use three across the top of my layout. I set up the ornaments in Silhouette Studio, so I knew how they would look once I added them to my layout. And I cut them twice. Once from White cardstock and then a second time from some of the patterned papers, using the offset feature.
When I placed the ornaments on my background, I used dimensional foam to pop up the center ornament to create some variation with the cut file. Next, I tucked my photo in the space below the ornaments. It fit perfectly! I kept the embellishing around the photo pretty minimal and just added some stickers and ephemera to the bottom corner. And I finished the layout with some embellishments scattered in with the ornaments at the top of the page.
The second layout came together very easily! I love grid designs and I thought it would be fun to use the Advent Love patterned paper with multiple photos on a full page grid layout. I used my paper trimmer to cut the Advent Love paper into squares and then decided which ones I wanted to use for my layout.
I mixed my photos in with the patterned paper squares and once I had everything adhered, I ran the layout through my sewing machine and stitched with gold thread. Since each of the patterned paper squares already included a design, I didn't need to embellishment too much on the layout. I did add a few stickers and ephemera pieces to a few of the spaces.
After I added the embellishments I thought I was finished with the design, but I decided I wanted to add a title. The grid design created a perfect spot for me to add the title Snow Day, using the Puffy Alpha Stickers from the Home for the Holidays collection. And I love the white on white look with the alphas and the cardstock background!
I'm so glad you stopped by today, and I hope you found some fun inspiration for using the Pinkfresh Studios cut files and Home for the Holidays collection!
