Hi there Pinkfresh fans! It's Ashley, and I'm so excited to share my first DT layouts for the PF Blog, with you today. I have had so much fun creating with the Escape the Ordinary and Boys Fort collections! I love all of the unique patterned papers and embellishments in the collections, and finding fun ways to use them on my layouts. My first layout features the Escape the Ordinary collection and a photo from the recent Solar Eclipse.
"ECLIPSE 2017"
I started the layout with the Explore paper for my background. This patterned paper just screams outdoors to me, and I thought it would be perfect for the theme of my layout. I turned the paper so the design would be vertical, and printed my photo in a triangle shape, to add in with the look of the paper. Before adding any embellishments, I machine stitched through the triangle shapes to add texture to the background paper.
Next, I placed my title down the center of the triangles, using the Leatherette Alpha Stickers. I love the vertical look of the title down the middle of the layout! I also used the cute circle numbers from the Leatherette Alpha to add "2017" to the title. I flipped the number 10 upside down, to make it work for the correct year.
I finished the look of the layout with a mix of pieces from the Ephemera Pack, Chipboard Stickers and Puff Stickers. I love the texture and dimension all of the different embellishments add to the layout. And the sun, moon and star pieces from the collection were a perfect fit for my Solar Eclipse theme!
"HEART BREAKER"
My second layout features the Boys Fort collection. I love using cut files on my layout, so I cut this design from White card stock and backed it with the Wowzers patterned paper. It creates a fun look in the background without being to overwhelming, because of the subtle gray paper. I wanted to add some more focus to the background, so I hand-stitched around several of the plus signs with a Yellow embroidery floss that coordinates with the collection.
I placed my photo on the right-hand side of the layout. Then I placed the title, using the Chipboard Alpha stickers, under the photo to help draw attention to it. I also placed several embellishments around the photo, to help it stand out from the background design.
I decided to finish the layout with a contrasting shape. I cut some of the circles from the Tough patterned paper and adhered them in a scattered design. I also added hand-stitching around the circles once I had them placed on the layout. I brought in a couple of other circles with the Wood Button Stickers and the Screen Printed Wood Stickers. Don't be afraid to mix shapes on your layouts. It's an easy way to add interest to your project!
Thanks so much for stopping in today! I hope you've found some interesting ways to use the Escape the Ordinary and Boys Fort collections for your projects. See ya next time!
