Creating Movement in Scrapbooking Layouts | Lauren Hender

Hello and welcome back to the Pink Fresh Studio blog. Today I am sharing a layout with you using the beautiful Days of Splendor collection. This collection in all its detail was perfect to document these fun Snapchat photos of my daughter and I.

To be honest I think I used a little of every piece of this collection. I wanted to try some how to make my layout move through the use of embellishments and I think all these sweet accents in differing sizes did the trick.

I began by tearing the striped patterned paper and adhering it down onto some white cardstock. When using my adhesive I made sure that I didn’t stick it all the way down at the top as I knew I want to tuck embellishments down there to help create dimension.

I then double mounted my photos with different coloured cardstock layers. I then added some stitched elements and set them out along the torn edge. They and the photos were key to making this layout come together and formed the foundation of the page.

I then used the cardstock stickers, floral ephemera, and the ephemera to bring the layouts to life and hopefully create a waterfall effect. I started building my embellishments on the top right hand side of the page and then while moving along toward the left added more embellishments down to the bottom centre of the page. I then carried the theme back through to the left hand side of the page. This drew your eye to the embellishments and gave the effect that they were moving. I then went back and added extra little details such as some puffy stickers and the fabric bows. This just gave that final special touch.

I was so please with how this layout turned out and although there is a lot of embellishments the fun photos of my daughter and I still stand out. I hope this layout has inspired you to have some fun with your embellishments and try and create a little movement.

Happy Scrapping

Lauren xx
