One Color Combo Two Ways | Jenny Colacicco
Hi there everyone! It's Jenny here today, and I'm joining you with a post that features two cards, both using the same color combination, but that achieve a different look! Check them out below side by side! Of course, I've had the amazing February 2021 release permanently on my craft desk so I'm featuring some of those products here today.
For my first card, I'm featuring the Folk Floral Print Layering Stencil Set. This stencil set consists of 5 different layers, which have guides etched on the stencils to help you line up the images (which is super easy). I am going for bold and complementary colors for this. I ink blended four of the layers using Fresh Pear, Passion Fruit, Candy Violet, and Mermaid Cove. I made sure to use a firm hand so I could achieve a bold color when blending.
For the fifth layer I used Silver glitter paste (I'm using BoBunny) to just add a few hints of embellishment while staying neutral.
When dry, I decided to add some detail to the pattern with colored pencils, using two colors on each ink blended shape, a medium tone a shade darker than the ink, and then a darkr tone for the corners, to achieve more depth. I also added some white gel pen highlights.
I adhered the card panel to a white notecard. For the sentiment, I used the Sentiment Suite: Thank You die set, cut from vellum and silver glitter cardstock and adhered together, popped up on the centre with clear foam tape. The sentiment is from the Simply Sentiments: Thank You stamp set, heat embossed in white on black cardstock and snipped to fit around the 'k' in Thank You.
For my second card, I'm using the exact same ink colors, however, I opted to use a lighter hand when ink blending to achieve a lighter shade! I'm featuring the Known and Loved stamp, die and stencil set.
I first stamped the Known and Loved wreath image on 110lb white cardstock in Detail Black ink and then colored it in with the coordinating stencil set using the same colors as before - I used the Fresh Pear and Mermaid Cove on the leaves, and Candy Violet and Passion Fruit on the florals. For the final layer which adds highlights to to the florals, I used the same silver glitter paste again and set aside to dry. On reflection I would recommending die cutting the wreath with the coordinating die, before adding the paste in case it gets smushed in your die cutting machine, however mine didn't luckily!
For my card base, I die cut two of the Pretty Frames die outer frames three times from neutral gray cardstock and adhered them together. I then adhered them to a white notecard which I had splattered with a pale blue shimmer spray.
I mounted the wreath over the top with a double layer of foam squares. For my sentiment, I heat embossed the 'You Are' and 'Never Alone' from the Known and Loved stamp set using Silver Sparkle embossing powder (from WOW!) onto vellum, then fussy cut it out. I adhered it over the centre of wreath, with clear foam tape on the edges. To finish, I added some clear Essentials: Crystals for a little tiny bit of embellishment without more color.
I was really surprised how differently these cards turned out using similar colors, just by using a lighter hand! I highly encourage you to play around with your stamps using the same colors to see what different looks you can achieve!
