Lime and Navy Holiday Hot Foil Inspiration!

Lime and Navy Holiday Hot Foil Inspiration!

12 Aug 2024 5 Comments

Hi friends! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I have some bold hot foiled inspiration using the gorgeous new Festive Foliage Tree Press PlateThe versatility of the Press Plates is unmatched, because you can use them for multiple techniques. I chose to use the Festive Foliage Tree Press Plate for hot foiling, using a vibrant lime green foil on some deep navy blue cardstock to create a striking lime and navy holiday project. Let's get started with the details!

I started by hot foiling the Festive Foliage Tree Press Plate onto some deep navy blue cardstock using Citrine foil from Spellbinders. The contrast between the shiny lime green foil and the bold blue background is so dramatic!! I die cut the image with the coordinating die, then used some sparkly lime green watercolors to add shimmer to the berries on the tree image. After the watercoloring had dried a bit, I used some clear lacquer pen to cover the sparkly paint so that it wouldn't smear.

While the clear lacquer was drying, I hot foiled a coordinating striped panel using the Diagonal Plaid Press Plate with the same lime and navy color palette. I also hot foiled a greeting from Holiday Greetings Sentiments Press Plates using the same color palette, then die cut the sentiment with its coordinating die. I trimmed the striped panel down slightly, then added a strip of Midnight Navy glitter cardstock along the edge. I adhered the pieces up on a deep navy blue card base, allowing the edge of the solid navy cardstock to peek out from behind the striped and glitter cardstock.

After my tree had dried, I popped up the die cut with foam adhesive, covering some of the seam of the striped and glitter cardstock. I added the die cut foiled greeting with another layer of foam adhesive, creating a double layer of foam tape for extra dimension. I used a navy blue alcohol marker to dye a length of white silk ribbon, tying it into a fluffy bow and tucking it beneath the sentiment with some liquid adhesive. I added some Enchanted Forest Glitter Drops for some added sparkle!

Well, that's all for my project today! Do you like bold and unusual holiday color palettes or are you more of a traditionalist? I love creating a bold statement with holiday color palettes. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
