Happy Monday, Pinkfresh friends! Yasmin here sharing with you another “Fun & Dimensional” mini album/card with pockets inspiration project made using the latest Pinkfresh: Life Right Now Collection. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it.

Therefore, this mini album has the dimensions of a standard A2 size thus, I went ahead to trim down in half a full 8.5 x 11 inches heavy weight white cardstock sheet to create 2 side folding white card bases. Next, I placed each cardstock piece over my score board tool, to trace over it a scoring line at 4-1/4” inches mark. Then, I went ahead to fold each card base over using my bone folder and then, I went ahead to trim down 1/8 of an inch from one of them.

As soon as, I’ve finished folding them over, I went ahead to put the smaller card base off to the side and then, I went ahead to line up the other card base over the die cut machine and then, I proceeded to line up over the front flap of it the fifth larger hexagon die included in Nested Hexagons Die set to cut out the hexagon window from it. Right after that, I went ahead to trim down a smaller card panel from one of the patterned paper sheets included in Life Right Now: 12 x 12 Paper Pack and then, I proceeded to line up over it the same die to cut out the hexagon window in the same exact place as I did for the card base.

Next, I went ahead to adhered down a piece of translucent vellum to the back of the hexagon window created over the card base to add a frost effect to it. Also, I went ahead to select some of the die cut shapes from both Life Right Now: Floral Ephemera and Rainbow Sentiments Die Cut Ephemera Pack as, I was going to use them to get the hexagon window embellished with them.

Moving on, after selecting the die cut shapes, I went ahead to get a piece of translucent ribbon adhered to the right side of the card base, I used a combination of hot glue and strong double-sided adhesive to keep the ribbon in place to hold up tight the pulling when opening and close the mini album. Next, I’ve got adhered the backing of the patterned card panel with the hexagon window over the card base and then, I proceeded to get the assembling for the pockets started.

This is a quite simple album and only has two actual pockets created by the card bases, so therefore, I went ahead to line up the smaller card base over my paper trimmer to make a diagonal cut over the bottom flap starting from the middle top where the scoring line starts then, leaving 2 inches from the bottom part of it. Then, after cutting it out, I went ahead to place the smaller card base inside of the other one and carefully get the bottom and right sides of it gluing down to the slight large card base, creating that way, the first card/album pocket with a left inner or top opening.

And, because this project has pockets, I went ahead to create some card or picture inserts, so to do that first, I went ahead to select the pattern papers that I was going to use. Then, I’ve got trimmed down one of them to H 5.0” x W 3-3/4” inches. Next, I used my tabs puncher to create a tab and then, I’ve got it glued down over the upper middle side of the panel.

Next, I flipped the album insert over and then, I went ahead to glue down over it a smaller white panel to leave space to write a personal message or a picture. By the way, I used the smaller die included in Essentials: Stitched Rectangles Die Set to add the stitching detail to the smaller panel and then, I used some of the floral ephemera and rainbow sentiments to get the insert embellished.

As, you can see in the image above, I left the front side of the insert without adding any embellishments because, I wanted it to show through from the hexagon window without adding extra embellishment but the floral pattern.

A floral pattern which, you can see that matches perfectly with the floral ephemera that I’ve had selected to get the album cover embellished.

Lastly, to finish the mini album cover off, I went ahead to add a little hot foil stamping touch to it. So to do that, I went ahead to use the second larger Nested Hexagons Hot Foil plate and then, I used Glimmer Hot Foil System along with a piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Polished Brass to get the hexagon frame hot foil stamped over a white cardstock piece. Next, I used two of dies included in Nested Hexagons Die set to cut out the frame from the cardstock. Then, to add a little dimension, I went ahead to get the frame mounted with narrow pieces of craft foam adhesive and last but certainly not least, I’ve got glued down the ephemera floral along with a rainbow sentiment.

Moving on, after getting the mini album cover embellished, I went ahead to get the inside embellished, so to do that first, I went ahead to trim down a smaller card panel from one of the patterned paper sheets and then, I went ahead to get the backing of it adhered to the back side of the first pocket.

Next, I went ahead to carefully get the smaller and bottom sides of the card flap with the diagonal cut glue down to the previous panel that I’ve got adhered, creating that way the second pocket. In the meantime, I went ahead to get the pocket embellished by getting adhered another piece of one of the patterned paper sheet. Also, I created a second insert in the same way as I did for the first example.

However, I’d like to mention that I went ahead to add extra embellishments to this insert using Life Right Now: Chipboard Frames and Life Right Now: Enamel Dots.

Having that said, you can see in the image above how the insert looks inside its pocket. Therefore, to continue with the coordinating look for the mini album, I went ahead to use the same pattern to get the last flap embellished.

As for the last flap of the mini album, I went ahead to create a mini envelope using leftover pieces of the patterned paper pieces that, I had left over from the sheets that, I used for the pockets.

Thus, to create the mini envelope I went ahead to trim down a panel to H 5-3/4 x W 4.0 inches. Next, I went ahead to place the panel with the long-side downwards over the score board tool to trace over it 1/4 of an inch on each side of it. Then, I turned it over with the wider side to the right side over the score board tool to trace over it two scoring lines at 1-7/8 and 5-1/2 inches marks.

Then, to create the front flap for the mini envelope, I went ahead to trim down a smaller panel from one of the scrap pieces to H 3-3/4 x W 4.0 inches. Next, I placed it over the score board tool to trace over it three scoring lines at 1/4 inches marks.

Lastly, I went ahead to get the scoring lines fold over and then, I’ve got the excess pieces trimming down with a small pair of scissors. Once, I had that step completed, I used liquid glue to seat the sides and bottom parts of the mini envelope. Finally, I added little touches to it by using a rounded corner punch to add details to the top flap, also by using a circle punch to add a half moon touch to it, too.

As, for the envelope closure, I use one of the rainbow sentiments in a circle shape and to keep it close, I used small Velcro dots. Having that said, after getting the mini envelope finished, I went ahead to get the bottom and right and left sides glue down over last flap of the mini album. I did it this way because, I wanted to create an extra mini pocket by leaving the back of the mini envelope without any adhesive.

So, this is how it looks like from a top view, you can see what I meant saying that I added an extra pocket without getting the backing of the mini envelope adhered down to the card.

Anyway, to finalize the album, I went ahead to add a patterned panel to its back side however, just like I did at the beginning, I’ve got glue first the piece of ribbon to create the mini album closure.

This is how this mini album/card with pockets looks like fully closed, as I mentioned in the beginning of the post it has the dimension of an A2 size card and with a 5/8 inch in width with all embellishments included.

Then, this is how it looks like from the other side, I’d recommend to cut out the ribbon pieces a little extra long that you think, to make any adjustments if needed depending on how much embellishments you use to avoid getting it shorter that what you need it. Once, I was sure on how much ribbon I needed to create a beautiful bow tied, I went ahead to trim off the excess from it using a small pair of scissors and then, I added some enamels dots to add an extra shiny and dimensional look.
