Last Minute Cards with Nested Dies | Anne Fiene
Hi guys, I'm on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today with some last-minute cards! I made these using two new releases: the Nested Elongated Oval: Blanket Stitch and the Nested Rectangles: Postage Edge. The oval die provides a pretty blanket stitched detail, and I love this new, dramatic postage-edge design! When I layer some colored panels and add florals, I'll be mostly done with my last-minute cards.
I started by going through my stash of discarded project pieces. Sometimes, after getting an idea and working on something for a while, if it doesn't end up being what I wanted but is still pretty, I'll store it away. I found some finished florals and branches of leaves in very different color palettes in my stash and decided they would be great for today's cards!
I went through my cardstock and selected shades to compliment the florals, knowing that I would want these nested dies to provide layers of color. I used fun foam in between the die-cut panels for loads of dimension.
These might be the kind of cards you would want to hand to someone. If you want to mail them more easily, you can certainly adhere the panels of die-cut cardstock directly together. Those layers of color will still pack a punch (and be a little faster to make). I ordered a supply of envelopes online to fit an A6-sized card (4 1/2 X 6 1/4) because I frequently have dimensional cards.
I made the blooms using the Peony Fantasy stamp, stencil, and die sets. The branches were hot foiled with the Joyful Day press plate, colored in with the stencil set and cut out with the die.
I layered the peony blooms and two-toned leaves on the top panel of the card and added sentiments from the Here For You Sentiments hot foil plates and dies. I had fun placing scarlet clear drops on the peonies and amber drops on the branches! I love the concentrated color and shine they add! And I'm done with my two cards in no time.
I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new! Thanks so much for stopping by!
